BTM8106 - 8 - 4 1 BTM8106 - 8 - 4 JACKSON, EVEN - NUMBERED CHAPTER EXERCISES, PP. 335 - 337 . 2 . How many independents variable are in 4 x 6 factorial design? How many conditions (cells) are in this design? There are two independent variables : one with 4 levels and one with 6 levels (Jackson, 2012, p. 316). There are 24 conditions (4 x 6). 4 . What is the differences between a cell (Condition) mean and the means used to interpret a main effect? Cell means are the means of all separate conditions . M eans used to interpret a main effect are the means represented in the rows and columns of a table, as shown by Jackson (2012, p. 324). 6. What is the differences between a complete factorial design and an incomplete factorial design? A complete factorial design is one in which all levels of each independent variable are paired with all levels of every others independent variable. An incomplete factorial design also has more than one independent variable, but all levels of each variable are not paired with all le vels of every other variable (Jackson, 2012, p. 315 - 316). 8. Explain the difference between a two - way ANOVA and a three - way ANOVA. A two - way ANOVA is used to determine whether there is an interaction effect between two independent vari ables on a continuous dependent. I t extends the one - way ANOVA, which is used to determine if such an interaction exists between just two independent variables (Laerd, 2015). A three - way ANOVA is used to determine if there is an interaction effect between three independent variables on a continuous dependent variable . I t extends the two - way ANOVA,
