Onelis Torres a good girl's guide to murder Chapters 5-8 Chapters 1- Explain the following analogy: "A strange, underwater silence mushroomed in the small space" (Jackson 48). This analogy is an example of imagery so the reader could feel the suspense and how it would look if they were in this place. 2. How would you describe Max as a person? Max is very nonchalant and just doesn't care about anything 3- Pippa's interview with Max is where we see some language. How does language shape the way we view characters? Through language, we can see the characters actions and demeanor, and what they really feel when expressing emotions. 4- Why is Naomi Ward on Pippa's person of interest list? Naomi never liked Andy. She also had a crush on Sal. However, he didn't like her back. Chapter 6 5. What is the point of the grocery store scene? The grocery store scene is to see how people feel about sal and his family when ravi, of Indian descent, gets treated poorly. 6. At the end of the grocery store scene (pg. 53), the author describes Pip pa as feeling "hollow when it left her.*' a- What "left her"? what she was feeling in her gut. b. What does this metaphor mean? This means that when anger and rage left her body, she felt empty and clueless. Chapter? 7. Why was Ravi bullied after Sal died? What insight into society does this give us? Ravi was bullied after sal died because everyone thinks that sal is a murderer and since he is family, he should be treated differently than everyone else. 8- Which of Pippa's theories do you currently believe? Why? I believe pippas theory about naomi being a person of interest because it is possible that love can make you do crazy things when it doesn't go your way.
