Pride and prejudice is a very famous novel by Jane Austenset in the backdrop of afictional place of Hertfordshire, near London. The story is set in the early 19thcentury andexplores human relations, love,morality, manners, education,mentality, upbringing andcommunity interactions in anelaborate way(Jane Austen, 1813).The story has been a favoritefor the readers and there are several depictions of it in theformof plays, movies etc.Pride andprejudice talks about relations as the story mainly revolvearound Bennett family withhusband,wife and their five daughters. Therehave been interactions of various people with the family andhow they affect the course of action of the daughters. It might appear very similar to the daytoday context or people mightidentify with the story well, this can be the reason for itspopularity.The main story revolves aroundthe five daughtersof thehousehold;the main characterisElizabeth who is thesecond eldest daughters among the five. The eldestdaughter is Janewho iswell manneredand proper. Elizabeth is one of thebest mannered and gracious of the Bennett’sdaughters(Jane Austen, 1813). The generalperceptionof the Bennett family is not very goodamong the neighborhood as they were perceived as ill mannered and self concerned.Mrs.Bennettwas particularly concerned with her five daughters and the fact that all get settled in wellto do families.
