On watching a small video of Ken Blanchard, I have realized that their main focus was to use different styles of leadership according to the situation. I think this is the biggest reason behind the success of their situational leadership theory. Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard have focused on the fact that a successful leader should keep on changing his or her leadership style based on the understanding of the people he or she is leading and the kind of task to be performed. Their main aim for giving this theory was to make leaders decide whether to give emphasis on the relationships with followers or to the tasks, whatever is necessary to get the work done effectively.
