BTM8107 - 8 - 4 1 BTM8107 - 8 - 4 NORTHCENTRAL UNIVERSITY ASSIGNMENT COVER SHEET Based on your analysis of creativity scores from a creative writing course, you performed both dependent and independent t - tests to determine whether participation in the course had an impact on participants' scores. In your response, be sure to address the following: 1. Provide an overview of your exploratory data analysis (EDA) for both pre - test and post - test creativity scores, including descriptive statistics such as mean, median, and standard deviation. 2. Describe the hypotheses you tested in both the paired samples t - test and the independent t - test. What were the results of each test, and how did they influence your conclusion about the effect of the creative writing course? 3. Discuss the assumptions you tested for in both t - tests, particularly focusing on the homogeneity of variances in the independent t - test. How did the results support your analysis? 4. Reflect on the differences between the two tests (paired samples t - test and independent t - test) and explain why they might have yielded different findings. How would these tests be used differently in future research or applied studies? Word Count Requirement: 800 - 1000 words

BTM8107 - 8 - 4 4 Introduction This week I conduct ed t - test s to determine if a difference exists between the means of two independent variables ; specifically if participation in a course affects participants’ scores. More specifically, the data analysis helped me determine whether the difference between these two variables is statistically significant. I was interested in finding out whether participation in a creative writing course resulted in increased scores of a creativity assessment. U sing the data file “Activity 4a.sav”, I conducted a between - subjects ANOVA , examining pre - test scores and post test scores, to determine if course attendance was justified . Part A : Dependent t - test 1a. Exploratory Data Analysis The exploratory data analyses for 40 participants below, shows a mean pre - test score of 40.1 5 , a median score of 38.00, and a standard deviation of 8.304. In comparison, the EDA shows a mean post test score of 43.35, a median score of 44.00, and a standard deviation of 9.598. The results indicate that posttest mean scores are better than pre - test mean scores when the same number of participants is used.
