Today,globalization has changed the world into a global village; where there is an ever an increasedesteem for competition. In this case, the ,most effective maneuver for any internationalorganizationis to understand the most important factors that can enhance an organization’sstrategy to expand internationally. Therefore, the report will focus on the role of leadership inthe phenomena of organizational change as well as other factors that is needed for anorganization to expand and survive. Research demonstrates that most organizational plans toexpand fail to achieve the goals. Therefore, as leadership plays a fundamental role in theevolution and expansion of an organization, the process of expansion demands a very effectiveandcompetent leadership that is well capable to perceive the,most desirable shape of theexpansion plan, motivate employees, and address issues of organizational change in the mostappropriate manner.Further, it has been demonstrated that effective leadership also addressesother important elements, such as, communication, teamwork, ethical practices, negotiation anddecision making among team members. As a result, all these factors work together to ensure thatan organization achieves the desired expansion plan.Thus, the paper will explore therelationship between a successful organization change, through expansionplans, on the basis oftwo theories, which are the Path-Goal Therory and the Leader-Member Exchange Theory andhow the leadership styles will affect the motivation of employees inthe organization and how theinstruments are used to measure the leadership process.

Thus, organizational change is vital for a sustainablebusiness and ensures long-term success.Scholars and researchers acknowledge the importance of organizational change andunderstanding the fact that practical steps are required to make change happen. For example,who will be the authority behind the changes anticipated who will be the individual in thechange? Hence, the role of leadership is very important while managing organizations; largecorporations, medium, and small businesses(Phillips, 2012). The role of leadership is key whileaddressing the issue of organizational expansion and effective leader can bring change to theorganization.Accordint to Phillips (2012) leaders are regarded as change agents who are in aposition to take an initiativeand bring change to an organization.
