 For any organization to function smoothly there has to be congruence between its values and the personal and professional values of its employees.  This is critical in the medical industry.  A medical institution has to ensure that its values are aligned with those of nurses to ensure that nurses are fulfilled at work and that patients receive exceptional medical care. 2

 Generally, a nurse’s personal and professional values are critical for proper execution of their duties. These values include but are not limited to caring, excellence, integrity, team work and diversity (Drayton & Weston, 2015).  The organization should create a culture that allows nurses to freely express these values.  Organizations, thus, should adopt values that promote transparency, justice, openness, safety, learning and development among others. 3

 Alignment of these values promotes job fulfillment and satisfaction among nurses.  They execute their duties as expected and are even willing to go above and beyond the call of duty.  Fulfillment also enhances nurse retention. The organization is able to attract and retain the best caregivers in the industry. 4
