    FOREIGN INVESTMENTS 3 Foreign Investments and Portfolio Diversification There has been a complete globalization over past couple of decades. The countries across the globe have become a small community. And there has been a free flow of men, material and m oney across the countries. T here is a complete ease of access for investment options for both corporate investors as well as individuals around the world. There have been situations in the past where some of the economies were facing economic crisis whereas others were going really strong. In such situation there is always a benefit in investing in the other countries, which are going strong. Like, current year has seen the fall of many countries such as Greece. China, Ukraine and Iraq can also be added to the list. Ameri ca has also witnessed the ninth worst stock market crash ever (of 530 points in August). On the other hand there are countries that are doing well economically; such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Dutch Republic etc. The investors, in order to allocate their funds more efficiently and to obtain the best returns on their investment at the least possible level of risk; make investments in diversified portfolios. A diversified portfolio includes investments across both domestic as well as international enterprises. A proper diversification can be attained by putting money across different countries that are performing well despite recession. This way the investors can also reap the best possible returns. Also a quest for the “best price” in global market through various tools and techniques has lead to search for global investment options, amongst the finance managers. There are many investment options available with the foreign investors, such as: corporate investments, foreign stocks, GDR’s, bonds, FCCB’s etc.
