Forms when moist, stable air is pushed up sloping terrain (like hills or mountains). As the air rises, it cools and condenses into fog—common along foothills and mountain ranges.

Ice Fog
when temperature is much below freezing and water vapor forms directly into ice crystals
Precipitation Fog
when warm rain falls through cool air, and saturates the cool air
