None of these werea result of abuse or neglect.525 children are currently in Foster Care.CAJAs work with allegations of abuse and neglect such as: physical abuse, negligenttreatment, sexual injuries, emotional abuse and substance abuse related.Federal PolicyIn 1974, CAPTA also known as Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act was passedby the U.S Congress which provided financial assistance to states for the prevention of childabuse and neglect. The policy asked for a volunteer to represent the abused or neglected childand advocate for the best interest of the child during judicial proceedings.“The Child AbusePrevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) is one of the key pieces of legislation that guides childprotection”(The child abuse, 2003).Originally enacted in 1974 , CAPTA was most recently amended and reauthorized inJune 2003 by the Keep Children and Families Safe Act of 2003. CAPTA focuses on three keyareas.
