ASSIGNMENT 1: COMBATING JUVENILE DELINQUENCY2Combating juvenile delinquency can be accomplished through a variety of elements.Juvenile programs exist within our communities and are in place to reduce delinquency injuveniles. Many sociological theories of causation have been developed to account for deviant behavior injuveniles that can shape your community’s public policy for delinquency prevention. I wouldcreate a juvenile prevention program titled Success for Kids in order for an adolescent to havesomewhere positive to go instead of being in the community committing crimes. Preventionefforts that are in place could help to improve juvenile delinquency within my community.Many programs are currently enforced within my community to reduce juveniledelinquency. One main program is The Pace Center for Girls that is a “not-for-profit 501(c) 3corporation that provides a non-residential delinquency prevention program in locations statewide, targeting the unique needs of females 12 to 18 who are identified as dependent, truant,runaway, delinquent, or in need of academic skills” (The Pace Center for Girls, 2013). The goalof this prevention program is to provide the girls with a nurturing and safe environment and helpthe girls to avoid school withdrawal, juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, substance abuse andwelfare dependency (The Pace Center for Girls, 2013). The Pace program was developed toprovide them with specific services such as “academic education, individualized attention, agender-specific life management curriculum (SPIRITED GIRLS®), therapeutic support services,parental involvement, student volunteer service projects and transition follow-up services” (ThePace Center for Girls, 2013).
