Population Health Assessment and Prevention ProjectPart 1: Windshield Survey: Unit 2Community IdentificationCommunity of Interest: Corpus Christi, TX, 78405Approximate population: 317,317 (city total per US Census) and 16,761 (for specific zipcode according to GIS Geography)Rationale for selection of this community for assessment: This communis is located in apart of the city with limited personal resources, and there is not as many accessible foodchoices in a two-block area. The area of the dty is not as busy with traffic, and does notseem to be as lively as other parts of the dty.When did you assess the area: (This should include two different times of the day).I went in the early morning time around 0800, and then again in the evening around1830.Windshield Survey: Area Assessment and BoundariesDriving around the area there is many houses, shopping centers that look empty or not in use.The houses are older in model and a mix of kept up with and not kept up with. Within theneighborhoods there is some apartment complexes for housing assistance, and variety ofdifferent churches. There are a few parks scattered around but equipment is not up to date anddoes not seem to be frequently used. There are not many kids out playing in the streets, butthere is a larger amount of older people walking around the streets or sitting outside. There isalso more of a homeless population that can be seen in this area. In comparison to the centraland southside part of the city where the dty is livelier, and plenty of options for food,entertainment, gyms, etc. The boundaries are not dear when driving which zip code that youare in but driving through there is a visual change in the area that shows you are moving todifferent locations of the dty.
