The humanistic approach seeks to help children through methods that focus on future goals, recognize personal accountability, and facilitate a nurturing therapeutic environment. Behavioral strategies include client - centered and person - centered therapies that focus on the psychological growth and development of an individual. Cognitive strategies focus on restructuring dysfunctional mental schemas to eliminate undesirable behaviors. Socialization strategies encourage active participation of parents and other family members to improve family relationships. Creative, critical and probabilistic reasoning explains that it is necessary to continuously monitor psychological states during therapy through valid and reliable measures. The Humanistic Approach to Psychological Issues The fundamental notion in the humanistic theory presents three elements for solving psychological issues.
