The US health department indicatedstrangers as well as people who are closestto them sexually assault thatby2010, 9.2% of children.Onein every five girlsisvictims of childabuse while 1 out every 20boysissexually assaulted. Twenty percent ofadult femalesrecallanabuse that occurred when they were children while 5% of adult males equallyremembersuchincidences(Wolfe, Crooks, Lee, McIntyre-Smith, & Jaffe, 2010).High prevalence of drug abuseamong individuals could largely be linked to many social as well asenvironmentalfactors. Thisstudy seeks to identify the link betweenchild molestation and the likely hoods that such victimswould end up abusing drugs in the future.Research ProblemToday instances of child molestation have increased. More and more people are beingconvicted of abusing children in the United States of America as well as in other parts of theworld. Child abuse often results to devastating outcome on children. It results to devastatingpsychological effects on such children. There is thus a need for players in the medical fraternitynot only to treat victims of such abuse, but also to identifythepotential environmental factorsthat may catalyze suchabuse.There is also an increasingcaseof drug abusers among the victimsof child abuse.In this particular case, drug abuse is linked with children molestation.
