BTM8107 - 8 - 6 1 NORTHCENTRAL UNIVERSITY ASSIGNMENT COVER SHEET Student : Based on your analysis of the one - way repeated measures ANOVA for both test scores over a 12 - week period and anxiety levels of inmates concerning job loss during incarceration, answer the following questions: 1. Analysis of Normality and Outliers: o Discuss how you assessed the assumption of normality for your dependent variable in both parts of the study (test scores and anxiety levels). How did you handle any outliers that you identified? o Word count: 300 words. 2. Interpretation of Sphericity Violation and Post Hoc Tests: o Explain how the assumption of sphericity was tested in your study, and the impact of the violation of this assumption on the results of the repeated measures ANOVA. Describe the post hoc tests you conducted to explore differences between levels of the within - subjects factor and summarize your findings. o Word count: 400 words. 3. Statistical Significance and Practical Implications: o In the case of both the test scores and the anxiety study, how did you interpret the statistical significance of the ANOVA results? Discuss the practical implications of these findings in relation to the research questions you were investigating. o Word count: 300 words.

BTM8107 - 8 - 6 3 Repeated Measures BTM8107 - 8 Introduction The one - way repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) is an extension of the paired - samples t - test and is used to determine whether there are any statistically significant differences between the population means of three or more levels of a within - subjects factor. The "within - subjects" part simply means that the same participants are either: (a) measured on the same dependent variable at the same "time points"; or (b) measured on the same dependent variable while undergoing the same "conditions" (Laerd.com, 2015). The levels are related becau se they contain the same participants in each level. In this study, I am using the data set from Activity 6.sav to determine whether test scores between males and females increase over a period of 12 weeks. In this example, Score is my dependent variable, while my within - subjects factor is Scores ( seven levels where each of the seven points is considered a level . Part A 1. Exploratory Data Analysis In the tables below , we see that all of the " Sig. " values are greater than .05 (they are .628, .418, .322, .179, .393, .138, .270, .452, .605, .233, .225, .323, .658, and .304 . Therefore, the dependent variable is normally distributed for each level of the within - subjects factor, gender . Due to the setup in SPSS Statistics, this is equivalent to stating that pre - test Week 12 scores are all normally distributed. Thus, score concentration was normally distributed at each time point, as assessed by Shapiro - Wilk's test ( p > .05).
