1. How does Michiko Kakutani establish her credibility as a reviewer? In what ways does she demonstrate her knowledge of the subject she is reviewing? Michiko Kakutani is an author she keeps this air of mystery which is why she is in the eyes of other authors and publishers. She is very dear and subtle, and she tells her opinion how it is. and she refers to different things to make her more credible. 2. VTiat evaluation criteria does Michiko Kakutani use to review a work? She doesn't use a formula or template, she reads as a reader, and she reads books as a reader to further her knowledge and understanding of that book and state what she liked or disliked and gave examples. Her evaluation criteria were never "clear-cut", they were more implied rather than obvious. 3. How dees Michiko Kakutani avoid appearing biased? Do you think she is successful in her attempts? I think she is successful in her attempts because she is a well-respected critic, she doesn't make anything biased because she informs the people about why she favors this more and why she doesn't like that as much and gives you credible things as to why s he had to say what she said. 4. How would you respond to a writer who ±ought you reviewed their work unfairly? I personally think if a reviewer of a writer's work I would state my honest opinion. If they thought; it was unfair then ±ey can ask me why and Ell give them a further in-detailed explanation. However, people will hate you because you didn't do am"thing in their favor but if thev - can't take a critics honest opinion in a good way then that on the writer not me. My honest opinion would be to help the reader succeed not fail. TA 1. Vhat criteria does Caelia Marshall use to evaluate the films she reviews in her essay? She uses the traditional film-review criteria, but she focuses on the historical and social context of the film. 2. How dees Marshall provide background and context behind the films Rear Window and Black Panther? She provides primary and secondary sources to her judgement, at the beginning she provides a thesis while grabbing her audience's attention.. She provides real world examples from different sources to give the audience more context and background. 3. Why has Marshall chosen to focus on criteria other than those listed in Figure 7.3? Do you think her choice is effective? Why or why not? Her choice is effective because she focuses on what's important to her and her company. She doesn't focus on the criteria in 7.3 because she does not think it is important.
