CAREERS IN PSYCHOLOGY2Careers in PsychologySection IIn terms of picking a careerand hoping to doctoral level college in the wake of acceptingyour Bachelor's inpsychologythere can be numerous choices that it can appear to be overpowering. The most essential thing is to consider what you like to do and what you feel will keep you the mostintrigued and glad when you proceed with your degree. I trust that having the capacity to picksomething that makes you glad and can keep your advantage is the most imperative component, while it may not be the simplest decision it is a vital one.Denise needs to settle on an imperative choice as she chooses what she might want toproceed with her training and degree with. She has numerous choices as she is exceptionally inspiredby kids and directing however the issues emerges when she is not keen on perusing distributions andexploration discoveries and not intrigued by leading them. I surmise that three majors that may be anextraordinary thought and impeccable match for her future: Master in Social Work (MSW),Pastoral counseling (MA), and counseling (MS).Inthe case of her getting anMA/ MS incounseling psychology, she will have the advantage of providing proper suggestions to thechildren regarding the activities which are required to be carried out by them (Davey, 2011). Ifshe carried outher educationin counseling psychology then, it is likely that, she will have betterunderstanding ofchild and adolescent problemsand she will act in a better manner regarding thesolutions. The pros to each of these degrees is that they will still continue her education inpsychology and will continue to educate her on how to counsel children and adolescents as wellas how to treat them. Another pro about each of these majors is that they also do not necessarilyrequire one to do research that often and she can continue to counsel without having toconstantly research and read publications, which is something she is not interested in. A con toreceiving a degree in pastoral counseling is that she is not only going to be counseling children

CAREERS IN PSYCHOLOGY3but will be counseling adults as well and it is a little less professional counseling in only ministrysettings, so this will be limiting(Jordan & Danielson, 1997). A con to continuing school in socialwork and counseling is that she will not have a main focus in children and adolescents again andwill also require research. These types of degrees do not require as much as many otherpsychology degrees but you must be up to date with treatments and engage in current knowledgeand education that is out there in the world of psychology. But with each of these having limitedresearch and still focusing on counseling I feel they will be the best options for her.In the case of Raul I think that he is overwhelmed because school is nearing a closure andhe has not decided what he wants to do with his life and is already responsible for a family. Withall of these factors in his life I can understand why it may be difficult trying to find a job thathewill lovewhenhe already hasall the pressure that goes along with real lifeweighing onhim.Ithink he is already on a great path when he has discovered that clinical and counselingpsychologist is not what he wants to do before it was too late. I believe that it is best to,in someway,“shop around” when it comes to a career that you feel will suit you. The best thing you cando is to look at people who you think have your “perfect” job and see what they did in order toget there, this can truly help to find out your next move (Landrum, 2012). Another option thatRaul has is to internship in positions or places that he feel he may be looking towards going into, such as what he had done with clinical and counseling psychologists. Never settle with a career,my advice is todo what makes you happy, even if that means searching longer than expected. This opportunity John has been given, even though it has left him laid off, has given himthe opportunity to do something that he is passionate about.Industrial/Organizationalpsychology is such a growing demand and is greatly used in many businesses today.I/Opsychology is about the study of human behavior in the workplace while applying psychological
