BTM8107 - 8 - 5 1 NORTHCENTRAL UNIVERSITY ASSIGNMENT COVER SHEET BTM8107 - 8 - 5 Student : In the context of a two - way ANOVA and ANCOVA analysis as demonstrated in the assignment, explain how the interaction between independent variables (gender and classroom size) affects the dependent variable (math scores) and the assumptions of normality, homogeneity of variances, and outlier detection. Additionally, discuss how these statistical analyses can be used to test hypotheses regarding group differences, with particular emphasis on interpreting the significance of results such as p - values, marginal means, and pairwise comparisons. Word count requirement: 500 - 750 words.

BTM8107 - 8 - 5 2 THIS FORM MUST BE COMPLETELY FILLED IN Follow these p rocedures: If requested by your instructor, please include an assignment cover sheet. This will become the first page of your assignment. In addition, your assignment header should include your last name, first initial, course code, dash, and assignment number. This should be left justified, with the page number right justified. For example: DoeJXXX0000 - 1 1 Save a copy of your assignments: You may need to re - submit an assignment at your instructor’s request. Make sure you save your files in accessible location. Academic integrity: All work submitted in each course must be your own original work. This includes all assignments, exams, term papers, and other projects required by your instructor. BTM8107 - 8 - 5 3 ANCOVA and Factorial ANOVA BTM8107 - 8 Part A Introduction This week I am using a t wo - way (Factorial) ANOVA to determine if there is an interaction effect between t wo independent variables on a continuous dependent variable from data set Activity 5.sav . Immediately following the ANOVA , assumptions of the two - way ANOVA are explained , including tests for two of the three assumptions carried out. T hree - way ANOVA s must meet three assumptions that relate to the nature of data in order to provide a valid result : (1 ) there should be no significant outliers (data points within your data that do not follow the usual pattern) in any cell of the design; (2 ) the dependent variable should be approximately normally distributed in every cell of the design; and (3 ) the variance of the dependent variable should be equal in every cell of the design (assumption of homogeneity of variances) , (Laerd, 2015). Additionally, I will be using an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) to determine whether there are any statistically significant differences between the adjusted population means independent (unrelated) groups. 1. Exploratory Data Analysis . The Descriptive Statistics table below shows the reported marginal means (93.250, 89.100, and 85.200 ). The figures reported in the Descriptive Statistics table are the weighted marginal means . Weighted and unweighted marginal means will only be the same when we have a balanced
