I. INTRODUCTION:Why do terrorist do what they do? What causes a person to become a terrorist? These are someof the perplexing questions that are being asked by global governments and also by privateorganizations throughout the world. The economic and social factors that aremajorplayers in thedevelopment of terrorist and terrorism cannot be underplayed. The terrorist likes to regardhimself as a messianic mythical figure to members of those nationalist groups of people that areforgotten by society because of ethnic, political, and religious circumstances. In many areas thathave produced terrorist,by the use of their financial resources, they have managed to establishschools, hospitals, and other organizations that tend to benefit thepeople and society of theindividualsthat are protecting them (Lichtenwald, 2003, Weldon, 2005, Ghosh, 2005). In manyways the social psychological mechanism that gives rise to terrorism as a viable option must beincluded when defining terrorist as members of a social order in some communities.A particularelement that is missing when analyzing the motivation of terrorist is the inevitable goal ofachieving notoriety and fame because of their terroristic activities (Navarro, 2004). Terrorist aremotivated by many different reasons such as a desire to be regarded as special and to beapproved by members of one’s own particular group. Other motivational factors are the desirefor vengeance toward a target group for perceived offences. The psychological impact thatterrorism causes on a target group not onlyaffectsthem, but also effects society as a whole, terrorism has become a major public health concern.
